This category celebrates outstanding initiatives that use creative communication to highlight the causes, consequences, and solutions of climate change. It recognises individuals, organisations, creative teams, or collectives who transform complex climate issues into accessible, emotionally engaging, and inspiring stories. The award honours those whose work raises awareness, amplifies marginalised voices, mobilises communities, and fosters climate-positive change.
The evaluation of applications in this category follows a two-stage process to ensure fairness, transparency, and consistency.
At this stage, evaluators will check for eligibility and completeness. Applications must demonstrate that:
Applicant eligibility – The applicant belongs to a recognised type (individual, organisation, collective, or creative team).
Initiative fits eligible sub-categories – The work must align with at least one of the eligible creative mediums (visual storytelling, audio & music, performance & theatre, digital & interactive media, or written journalism & storytelling).
Evidence of implementation – The initiative must have already commenced (ongoing, completed, or scaling up). Purely planned or conceptual ideas will not be considered.
Submission of supporting materials – Applicants must provide at least one valid link or file (video, photo, audio, article, campaign material, etc.) so the initiative can be properly reviewed.
Only applications that meet all four requirements will progress to Stage 2.
Eligible applications are scored on five criteria, each with defined weights and scoring rubrics. The emphasis is on the initiative’s relevance to climate action, creativity, impact, and inclusivity. |
1. Relevance to climate action (25%) |
Evaluates how directly the initiative links to climate issues. |
Looks at clarity of goals, alignment with climate action priorities, and potential to raise awareness, influence behaviour, or mobilise communities. |
2. Creative approach (20%) |
Evaluates originality and innovation in storytelling or artistic execution. |
Priority is given to initiatives that use creative techniques to make climate communication engaging, distinctive, and memorable. |
3. Reach & engagement (15%) |
Examines the scale of audience reached and the depth of their engagement. |
Evidence of participation, viewership, or resonance strengthens scoring. |
4. Impact & influence (25%) |
Looks at the initiative’s demonstrated or potential influence on awareness, attitudes, behaviour, or climate narratives. |
5. Inclusion of underrepresented voices (15%) |
Evaluates the extent to which the initiative intentionally amplifies voices of women, youth, indigenous, or other vulnerable groups. |
How applicants should prepare |

Provide examples of your creative approach and what makes it distinctive. |
Share evidence of reach, engagement, and impact wherever possible (numbers, feedback, or qualitative stories). |
Highlight how your work amplifies diverse or underrepresented voices. |
Ensure at least one supporting material (link or file) is provided so reviewers can experience your work directly. |
