WINNER : GRAM VIKAS

10th Earth Care Awards recognize Gram Vikas under the category Community Based Climate Action for Community Owned Social and Agroforestry for Protecting and Rejuvenating Water Sources project. This initiative has been instrumental in empowering most vulnerable forest dependent communities and managing productive forests. The beneficiaries are engaged in every stage of the project which besides working towards rejuvenation of the water sources also has carbon sequestration potential.
The project contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and Goal 13: Climate Action.

10th Earth Care Awards commend “The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, India” for their initiative “Accelerating Sustainable Cotton Production & Uptake in Yavatmal and Jalna districts of Maharashtra in partnership with WWF India”.
This project addresses the woes of most vulnerable farming communities in the dry and arid belt of Maharashtra which is infamous for farmer suicides. It maps risks and vulnerability of cotton farmers to climate change through research and application of digital tools. Through the initiative they have directly impacted the lives of over three hundred thousand farmers (mostly women) across 300 villages by helping them move towards sustainable farming practices


Category : Enablers for Urban Centered Climate Change Management

WINNER : SURAT MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

10th Earth Care Awards recognize Surat Municipal Corporation for Sustainable Energy Generation through Solar Power Plants under the category Enablers for urban centered climate change management. The scale that SMC has been able to achieve in diligently promoting the use of renewable energy, creating awareness amongst citizen as well as industrial sectors and facilitating installation of roof top solar systems is highly appreciated.

COMMENDATION : BRIHANMUMBAI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

110th Earth Care Awards commend “Garden Department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (B.M.C.)” for their Greening initiatives. The project is a classic example of how the Garden Department’s efforts of creating dense green cover have resulted in creating biodiversity conservation hotspots for a city that is choking due to anthropogenic pressures.
Using Miyawaki technique 4 lakh trees have been planted bringing 1 lakh square meter of area in Mumbai city has been made green, which will help in increasing catchment area, percolation & drainage capacity of land to combat flooding issues, protecting & preserving rare tree species thereby managing biodiversity.

Category : Women-led Climate Action Initiatives

WINNER : NIDHI PANT

10th Earth Care Awards recognise Ms. NIDHI PANT in the Women Led Climate Change Action Initiatives for her contribution towards ending extreme poverty by helping mitigate climate change, end hunger, and empower most vulnerable women.
Nidhi and her firm S4S’s Market Integrated Solar Powered Food Processing machines help women farmers decrease food waste, increase profits and take ownership of their businesses. Nidhi is a classic example of how youngsters are helping achieve the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
The Project is aligned with SDG 5: Gender Equality & 13: Climate action.

Category : Enterprises in the renewable energy space

WINNER : TATA CLEANTECH CAPITAL LIMITED

10th Earth Care Awards recognize Tata Cleantech Capital Limited as a winner in the Enterprise in the Renewable Energy space for its effort on developing and mainstreaming cleantech industry and also heavily funding large utility scale renewable projects thus contributing to India’s Net Zero vision.

WINNER : PUNJAB RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS PRIVATE LIMITED (PRESPL)

10th Earth Care Awards recognize Punjab Renewable Energy Systems Private Limited (PRESPL) under the Enterprise in Renewable Energy Space for building and operating 100% Raw Biomass Fired Boiler in India. Besides generating jobs by engaging with village level entrepreneurs and enhancing farmer’s income by Rs 75000 to 150000 per annum, the project has been instrumental in addressing critical issue of crop residue burning.

The project contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

WINNER : MAITHRI AQUATECH PRIVATE LIMITED

10th Earth Care Awards recognize MEGHDOOT Water from Air System an initiative of Maithri Aquatech Private Limited as winner. Aligned with “Make in India” the enterprise works extensively on generating potable water from air with Zero Liquid discharge. The eco-friendly solution is scalable and cost effective especially in water scares areas having no other source of water.

The project addresses Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

WINNER : GODREJ INDUSTRIES LIMITED – VALIA UNIT

10th Earth Care Awards recognize Godrej Industries Limited – Valia Unit under the category Innovation in Climate Action for a unique heat recovery system installed at the plant. The system helps in reducing carbon emissions by decarbonizing heating and colling system and is scalable wherever substantial heat recovery is possible.
